I got the FS51, and had loads of trouble with it. Basically, it didn't work, and ended up not even turning on. Magnasonic was very responsive with supplying UPS return, and sending out a new one. The new one works well. I'm using it for 35mm slides. The process is pretty fast. Takes about five seconds per slide to do the scan. The scan quality looks very good.I should say that the 64MB internal memory is woefully inadequate. You'll be about to scan about 14 pictures onto it. First thing to do is to run out and get a 32GB SD card to vastly expand that memory. With a 32GB card, you can stuff about 7000 scans into the thing. Now, those SD cards are really pretty cheap. Why couldn't Magnasonic have included that memory internally? Now, the manual is pretty bad. They don't say things that need to be said. For one, you cannot scan to your computer. You scan to the internal memory and THEN you download the folder of scanned pictures to your computer. You can do everything with the USB cable - power and download. You just can't download as you scan. There are text readouts on the screen that the manual simply never refers to. Duh? I should add that there is an engineering defect, where the SD card doesn't slide in easily. You have to push it hard to get it in, and it certainly doesn't pop right out like it's supposed to. Both my original unit and the replacement were identical in that regard. They include a brush for cleaning the sensor, but no instructions on how to use it. Now, the support people are pretty responsive, so if you have questions, ask them.But once you figure all that out, things go pretty fast and painlessly. Diddling with the color balance and brightness of pictures is a slow process, but I rarely needed to do that. Be aware that the slides are only scanned in landscape mode. So if you have portrait mode pictures, you'll have to flip them after downloading them.
