My wife is big-time into genealogy, so when I stumbled upon this unit that would scan from 110 negs, 35mm negs, 126 negs, slides, and 8mm movies (single frame capture), I thought she'd be thrilled. It was pretty intuitive to set up; the control buttons could be a bit confusing, but after 2-3 times it became clearer what we were supposed to do. The documentation covers the areas, but not in much, if any detail. The negative carrier worked 'ok' but would snag every now and then. No biggie, but why? The memory capture and dump to computer are pretty straight forward; again, clunky instructions. Basically, no way to dump to a memory card (at least not clear), so when the internal memory is full, you have to offload it. Big thing is the small screen. At 2.3' or thereabouts, you really can't see much; of course you'll be doing your editing on your computer, so I guess if this shows you the pic you want, you really don't need to do much else. After a week or so, we returned it. She's still looking for a replacement. There are several others on Amazon with bigger screens (4-5'), at double the price. Functionality is about the same across models, regardless of manufacturer.
