i bought this specifically for cleaning my engagement ring and two pairs of gemstone earrings that I wear daily. All of these pieces have very small nooks and crannies that weren't coming clean with just a brush. I ran them through a few cycles in the machine and didn't see a huge difference, so I tried adding some dish soap to the water. Still not a remarkable improvement. I chalked it up to "you get what you pay for" and put my jewelry back on. I noticed that some of the grime in my engagement ring was actually loose and slowly coming out, so I put everything back in the machine and hit it with the brush while it was in the water. I don't know if that's what jewelers have to do, but it totally worked and everything came out looking *brand new*. I look forward to using this machine again to keep everything shiny and sparkly.
