Product Review (submitted on August 31, 2021):
As a scanner, this is super-easy to scan then upload to a computer (I'm using a Mac). It is slow - takes about a half hour to scan a 3' 8mm reel. It's very simple (you can't scan one reel while loading another one onto your computer. But it gets the job done. Our family has roughly 100 8mm film reels, which would cost over $1000 to have professionally scanned (roughly $15 each). There's a lot of work involved once the films are loaded onto a computer to clean them up/restore them. So don't think that you can scan these and they'll look great. I mean, you CAN do nothing to them and watch them straight off this scanner. But if your films go back to the 50's or 60's and are of family who aren't around anymore, likely you'll want to use some film manipulation software (like Final Cut) to restore them as best as possible. I'd recommend this to anyone who has a large volume of family films to scan (like 40 reels or more) and doesn't want to pay a fortune to get them digitalized.
