There's automatic contrast adjustment being done on the scans, and it can't be overridden. So be prepared for backgrounds to be (too) dark. Or people to be too dark if they're standing in front of a white background, like a wall. If you're just looking for snapshot-quality scans, this will do the trick 80% of the time. But for anything requiring proper contrast and color balance you'll want to use a quality flatbed scanner.This is about a thousand times quicker more convenient than a flatbed scanner though, and that's a big plus. I would not have ever taken the time to run thousands of negatives through my flatbed photo scanner, it would have taken a year. With this, it was a few days, part-time.Also, the 35mm negative holder crops a good portion of the edge of the frame. If you like full-frame scans, this will not do the trick. But like I said, if you think of it as a snapshot scanner, it's decent.
