very easy to use but basic device, resolution is quite low, despite the announced 22MPx, the actual level of detail captured is quite low and the filtering is very roughPros: good size, simple device, fast, very easy to scan various types of positives or negativesCons: cheap sensor, image quality is not great, filtering is bad, level of captured detail is low, image feels over-processed and sharpened. Color accuracy or automatic exposure and white-balance is really bad, need a lot of manual (on the device) or Post (on computer after scan) processing to get colors right.

This device is easy to use and will capture images from negatives very quickly. It is easy to transfer the images to a PC or laptop. The image quality is fair. I expected better image quality but this device, like similarly priced competitors, does not truly scan the negative. Rather, it uses a CMOS sensor to essentially take a digital photo of it, and the image may look like a medium quality digital photo. For those wanting to take a highly detailed scan of negatives, a different type of device is needed, such as a Plustek. Those devices will cost hundreds of dollars more, however, and are more difficult to use.

Transfers slide to digital very well without changing color tones

Facile à utiliser avec des diapos et la qualité des photos est plus grande que j’espérait.Facile à flipper les photos horizontalement ou verticalement avec les boutons sur le scanner. Aussi très simple à transférer sur l’ordinateur.

Easy to use and at a great price. It doesn't take very long to transfer pics to pc.

Does what is says but get the memory card with it. Next time I would buy one with a larger viewing screen just because my eyes aren't as good as they use to be.

This device was a replacement for an Ion slide scanner for which I could not get a Windows 10 driver.

It works well for slides and for B&W negatives that are properly exposed, and reasonably well for colour negatives. In each case it is superior to the Ion scanner. My colour negatives have all needed post-processing, as the built-in colour correction in the FS52 is not sufficient. However, with any decent photo editing application it should be fairly easy to get results that are more than acceptable.

When I had a minor problem with tracking (Canada Post were slow in providing a tracking number), Dawn in Customer Experience was very kind and helpful, kept on top of the status of the order, and got back to me as soon as a valid tracking link was available and a delivery date set.

I appreciated her engagement on the issue, and that she followed it from beginning to end. (In contrast, another company that I recently asked for support from has had four different individuals all responding at different stages.)

Thank you, Dawn!!

Cheers,
Malcolm McLean

I did not expect the resolution, colour control and creative workability to be this good! Garbage in garbage out eh? I will have good fun reworking my boxes of slides and neg's. If I find a gem I can have it scanned professionaly.

Does what it says. Easy to use, scans quickly. Images are a little pixelated when zooming in but it is great to have digital copies of old photos.

The scanner is easy to use. Needed it for 8mm film. Actual frames of 8mm film are too small for this machine in my opinion. Freezing 1 frame is useless. Better to digitize the whole film with other products out there.

Was not easy to use with my older negatives that it started curling. They get stuck in the machine and over and over again I’d had to remove the trays and put them back in again. The Tre’s are also made a very flimsy plastic and need to be handled carefully. The color changes are rudimentary at Best

Not happy with the quality of the result from negatives. Very poor quality image. Will try a couple more different negs to see if result any better. I am pretty disappointed, especially for something that purports to be High Resolution, 22 MP. I got a better result using my scanner to scan 4x6 prints than what I got using this to scan the negative.
